Osseous Grafting Palmdale

Osseous grafting palmdale is technically a surgery but is often regarded as an intensive cleaning procedure to remove tartar and harmful bacteria. The aim of the surgery is to eliminate pockets and reshape irregularities to treat and prevent advanced periodontal disease.

Dr Gobrial is the specialist at Boulevard Dental Palmdale, CA and has undertaken extensive training to ensure you receive the best possible care.

Reasons for Choosing Osseous Grafting

Preventing bacteria spreading around the body

Bacteria can spread around the body quickly causing other conditions such as heart disease or respiratory disease. These conditions are life-threatening but may be avoided by cleaning your teeth properly. Removing deep tartar and bacteria through osseous grafting is the best way to avoid future conditions.

Avoid loss of bone

Periodontal bacteria causes inflammation and may be a precursor to bone loss in the jaw. Ultimately, if left untreated, this bacteria leads to tooth decay and tooth loss. Osseous grafting palmdale halts this process.

Bring Back Your Smile

Periodontal bacteria also causes unsightly gums, browned, rotten teeth and misshapen teeth. Having teeth that look like this may cause embarrassment and even lead to patients feeling depressed and insecure about their appearance. The osseous grafting procedure will restore your teeth to a healthy condition, raising your confidence and making you feel much happier.

Brush With Ease

As the teeth decay, brushing and flossing effectively gets much more difficult. Osseous grafting makes brushing easier as the surface of the tooth is smoothed so less bacteria may settle. Once you are able to care for your teeth properly, your teeth are much less likely to suffer further effects of periodontal disease.

What happens during the procedure?

At Boulevard Dental, Dr. Gobrial performs osseous grafting palmdale. You will first be given a local anesthetic to numb the area. Dr. Gobrial will cut the gum area around the affected teeth to release the gum tissue and give access to the root and bone. Once exposed, Dr. Gobrial will use a drill and hand tool to reshape the bone. He may also remove bone or perform a bone graft to restore the natural rise and fall of the bone..

Dr. Gobrial will then put the gums back and suture them into position. The site of the surgery will then be covered using a periodontal pack, bandage or dressing to protect it. You may require painkillers after the surgery and Dr. Gobrial will give you chlorhexidine mouth rinse too.

After the surgery, there may be some swelling or bleeding, but this is nothing to worry about in most cases. You can use an ice pack on your cheek to relieve the symptoms. If you are worried about any severe bleeding or swelling, please call us and we will be able to assist with your concerns.

You will also require some follow up appointments with Dr. Gobrial to check the healing progress and health of your teeth. For the best results, you must follow a strict maintenance program provided by Dr. Gobrial. This will prevent further infection and assist your healing process
